The Amethyst team had the pleasure of attending CYBERUK25 this past week in Manchester – the UK government’s flagship cybersecurity event hosted by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). Over three dynamic days, the conference brought together public sector leaders, private industry experts, and international allies to explore the evolving threat landscape and discuss how we can collectively build greater digital resilience.
This year’s theme of “Transforming Resilience and Countering Threats” underscored the importance of anticipating emerging risks while maintaining robust, adaptable defences. From thought-provoking panels to invaluable networking opportunities, CYBERUK25 once again proved itself to be a cornerstone event for the cybersecurity community.
One of the most impactful moments came during the opening keynote from Richard Horne, CEO of the NCSC, who addressed not only the complexity of today’s cyber threats but also the critical need for systemic resilience. His message was clear: while technology continues to advance, so too does the threat landscape – and only through genuine collaboration across sectors and borders can we stay ahead in the ‘contest’.
A recurring topic throughout the week, particularly in the panel discussions was supply chain security and assurance. As cyber threats become increasingly sophisticated, attackers are targeting the more vulnerable links in extended ecosystems. Many discussions highlighted the growing necessity for organisations to demand and demonstrate end-to-end assurance – not just within their own operations but across the third parties they rely on.
Beyond the formal agenda, CYBERUK25 was a powerful reminder of the strength and breadth of the UK’s cyber community. We had the opportunity to engage with representatives from critical national infrastructure, government, law enforcement, academia, and fellow private sector organisations – all united by a shared goal: to make the UK the safest place to live and work online.
As we reflect on our time in Manchester, we’re energised by the connections made, the insights gained, and the shared sense of purpose that continues to drive our industry forward.
We’d like to thank the NCSC and all those involved in delivering such a forward-thinking and inclusive event and we look forward to next year’s CYBERUK in Glasgow!
